Detoxing The Colon For Optimum Health

Due to a polluted environment, careless nutrition and stress, our body is exposed to a huge number of aggressors that determine various painful and often embarrassing health conditions. The immediate cause of many of these ailments lies in the toxin accumulation at the colon level and the impossibility to eliminate these substances for good. Many doctors now recommend a colon detox as a means of cleansing the system from the more difficult to eliminate waste. A certain cleansing frequency is a must in order to really see benefits and improve your life. In order to understand the importance of this type of detox we need to explain the concept of body pollution first.

The body is exposed to the action of toxins on a daily basis: at work, at home, by the processed food of our meals and the large amount of sugar intake, from the water supply and even the current use of pharmaceutical drugs. Maybe learning more on colon detox could open the door to healthier living and a whole range of environmental changes that are within our reach. The medical practitioners that provide cleansing health programs are very likely to show you pictures of the pollution as it builds up in the liver, the kidneys or the colon. Most patients are usually surprised to learn what sort of burden they've been carrying around.

Studies show that regular colon detox helps you eliminate the risk of intestinal parasites that usually feed on the decayed waste that clogs the colon. All people carry specific parasites and microorganisms inside the body system, but health problems only appear when these tiny monsters come to rule. In many cases this is a far bigger problem than you may have realized since statistics show that parasites kill humans in a very disproportionate war. If you're wondering when it is the right time to run a colon detox, here are some specific symptoms that may convince you to take action.

First of all, unexplained fatigue combined with poor digestion is the main clue that you need a colon detox. Then come constipation, rashes, bloating, gas and a whole range of symptoms that interfere with every aspect of your life. The first step to eliminate the colon toxins is by getting rid of the parasites that produce other toxins in their turn. Besides regular drugs prescribed under such circumstances you can always use herbal mixtures meant to detox the final part of the digestive tract. After the colon cleansing, it's time for the kidneys and the liver to be freed from heavy metals and the various chemicals.

For a complete colon detox, a replenishing of friendly bacteria is a compulsory requirement; therefore, the use of probiotic supplements is essential for the recovery of your general strength. No detox program should be adopted without the doctor's recommendation particularly when it comes to the use of powerful herbal extracts and the best person to provide the necessary support here is a naturopath. Last but not least, get a firm grip on the immune system, since very often after a colon detox, it needs a supplementary boost. Some plants such as Echinacea may work wonders for the immunity, don't hesitate to ask your doctor about it.

10 Elements to Powerful (and Profitable) Presentations

In the business world, there are all types of presentations that we do on a daily basis: sales presentations, prospecting meetings, staff meetings, client meetings, introductionsthe list goes on and on. Instead of reinventing the wheel every time you face a new presentation, knowing the 10 elements to a powerful presentation will cut down on your preparation and save you from unnecessary stress.

1.Theme: What is point of the presentation? You should be able to answer that question in one sentence. The benefit of having a theme: Knowing your theme during the development phase of a presentation you keep you on track and help you avoid tangents. It also helps your audience remember your message.

2.Opening and Closing: Yes these could be two different elements, but they serve a very similar purpose. The opening and closing are the bookends that give you the opportunity to once again state your beyond benefits (#3) and you theme. Ideally, your closing should tie into your opening, creating the feeling of coming full circle.

3.Beyond Benefits: The focus of the presentation is not you, its the audience. Write down a list of the benefits of either working with you, implementing this method, following this strategy, using this product, or buying you services. Then, look at the list and for each item ask yourself this magic question, So what? See if you can take that benefit one step further and find the Beyond Benefit. What is the true end result that your audience is looking for? How will what youre offering make their life easier?

4.Stories: People process information intellectually, they buy based on emotion. Creating an emotional connection with your listener(s) leads to a relationship which leads to more business. So in your presentations, how do you create that emotional connection? Stories. Find a story that is analogous to your discussion. Use the story that ties into your theme. A great place for your story is in your opening and closing.

5.Powerful Questions: Anthony Robbins so wisely says Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers. Your presentations should have opportunities for dialogue. Learn what your prospect or client is needing and wanting. Assuming too much is just bad business. Remember, its not about you, its about them. (Aside: If you are giving a keynote to a large group, you rarely want to open the floor for dialogue. However, you still want to ask powerful rhetorical questions to keep them engaged and thinking.)

6.You and We Statements: The first half of your presentation should have a high ratio of you statements, ensuring that you are engaging them by stating their needs and the Beyond Benefits of what youre offering. In the second half, there should be a seamless transition to high ratio of we statements. Subconsciously your audience will start to see you as already part of the team.

7.Options: When youre giving a presentation to a prospect or a current client trying to convince them to try a new endeavor, it always helps to give them options. I learned this from Alan Weiss. It then changes the listeners thinking from Should I do business with Shari? to How should I do business with Shari?

8.Talk Back: No, I dont mean be rude. When you ask your powerful questions, it is always a good idea to repeat what you heard. I understand that you are looking to This will help you clarify the needs of your audience. Then, your audience will be thinking, She knows what I need. Were on the same page!

9.Planned Follow-Up: Make it easy on yourself! In the meeting, set a time and method for follow-up. This way it opens the door to make another touch with your client or prospect. That way you are not call out of the blue when they thought everything was said and done.

10.Preparation: This is the most important. Prepare for your presentation ahead of time! It is the most simple and yet the most overlooked. You never know what curve balls are going to be thrown your way, but if you have a plan and a clear picture in your mind of what you want to cover, you will always get back on track. Now that you know what the 10 elements are to powerful (and profitable) presentations are, you have an outline to follow and your preparation time will be cut in half.

Presentations are a vital part of any business. Dont lose business because of a bad presentation. Implement these 10 elements and watch your business grow!

Site Inspections = Worker Protection

Workplace safety inspections using site specific checklists help keep workers safe by identifying and correcting potential injury causing hazards. Although the frequency of inspections may vary each shift, daily, quarterly or annually depending on the type or degree of workplace hazards, all observations, identified hazards, and corrective actions must be documented.

What should general inspections include? An inspection should note housekeeping practices such as items and debris on floors or walkways. Areas under desks and tables should allow proper ergonomic seating and access for emergency protection. Stored items should be properly stacked on shelving units firmly attached to walls with heavier items on bottom shelves and lighter items on top. Top shelf items require 18 clearance from fire sprinkler systems and unsecured stacked floor items should not exceed 72 in height.

Site inspections should check that floor surfaces are clean and free of slip hazards. Wet surfaces should be covered with non-slip materials and any holes in floors, sidewalks, carpets or other walking surfaces should be repaired, covered or marked as a hazard. Extension cords should be used only temporarily and not cross walkways without hazard notification signs. Additional power outlets should be installed if extension cords are necessary on a permanent basis or there are daisy chained power strips.

Equipment, tools and power cords should be examined to insure good operating condition with protective guards and coverings in place. Defective items should be tagged and taken out of service.

Electric panels should be checked to have 36 clearance in front. The inspection should also assure that chemicals are properly stored in compatible classes.

Whenever or wherever personal protective equipment is required, notices of hazards and requirements should be clearly posted in affected areas. And, the personal protective equipment required should be readily available, clean, and in good condition. Restricted areas should also be marked as such.

Emergency exits and eyewash stations should be clearly identifiable from any point in the work area and clear from debris or other access impediments. Doors that are not exits should be labeled to avoid confusion. And, fire doors should not be propped open. The inspection should include annual fire alarm and sprinkler system testing with monthly testing of fire extinguisher for charge and annually checking for recharge. And, first aid kits should be periodically inspected to assure supplies have been replenished or replaced.

Overweight? Your Self-Esteem Is Important - Love Yourself

There are three types of people. Those who're quite contented to be couch potatoes, those who're unhappy with the excess weight but do nothing about it and those who KNOW that only way to weightloss, health & fitness is to TAKE ACTION.

Those who take action are the ones who usually have a mountain of self-confidence. They acknowledge they need to lose weight, set a goal to achieve the ideal weight and fitness, then go all out to get there - and they normally do.

I've seen too many overweight people convince themselves that they're unattractive or abnormal. I think that's a shame because it undermines their self-esteem.

The effect of this is a lack of self-confidence, self pity and depression. This is reflected by the social awkwardness shown by many people who percieve themselves as unattractive just because they're overweight.

Y'know what? That's nonsense! YOU'VE GOTTA LOVE YOURSELF FIRST! Sure, you could lose a few pounds but you're as good as anyone else.

HOW DO YOU TELL THIS TO THE WORLD?

1. TAKE ACTION. Get on a diet program. The mere fact that you're doing something about your weight is a morale booster by itself.

2. WALK TALL. Yes! improve your posture. Lose the slouch. It makes your stomach look higher than it really is. Raise your head and stick out your chest. Show your new confidence in your posture. If you were to hire someone, who would you choose? The skinny person with the loser slouch or the overweight person whose posture says he or she can take on the Incredible Hulk?

3. ACT CONFIDENT (EVEN IF YOU DON'T QUITE FEEL IT). Practice this often enough, and it'll become a habit. Your confidence must be reflected in your walk (brisk, firm strides),speech (clear voice, good vocabulary, NO self-depreciating words), as well as your body language (good posture, appropriate gestures, good eye contact). You should also start on an exercise program. In addition to the weightloss and health benefits, your confidence will hit the roof. There are some good ebooks on weightloss, health and fitness you can get which contain great fatburning programs.

4. DRESS NEATLY & APPROPRIATELY - ALWAYS. Take pride in your appearance. It's the first impression of you the other person will get before he or she even speaks to you. Wear solid colors and avoid stripes - particularly horizontal stripes and wear pants with flared bottoms.

5. MAKE SURE YOUR BODY ODOUR IS PLEASANT. Believe it or not most people decide whether they like you or not by your body odour more than anything else. Have you ever been complimented about your perfume or cologne by someone you don't even know? Most of us have.

The human body secrets pheromones which blend with our colognes or perfumes to attract men or attract women. Some people produce more than others so that explains why some are more successful in romance than others. Pheromones are known to cause those of the opposite sex to become more receptive - even flirtatious towards poeple they don't even know. The good news is you can now get pheromones in a bottle.

Man, I'm having a good time writing this article because this is one of my favorite topics. I think I'll quit at this point though, and leave some tidbits for my other articles.

Remember, love yourself and TAKE ACTION. Make your journey towards weightloss, health and fitness a rewarding and enjoyable one.

Tires, Your Most Essential Truck Accessory

There you are, driving along the highway in your 4X4 when you glance off to the side only to see an oh-so-inviting muddy logging trail. "Can't pass this one up", you say to yourself, as you tug on the steering wheel and head off to 4-wheeler's heaven. Next thing you know, you're using your cell phone (if it works out in no-man's land) to call a tow truck. What happened? In the excitement of the moment, did you forget you still had highway tires on your truck? Oops!

Most light trucks come equipped with All Purpose tires, which are fine for everyday driving. But if you're an offroad enthusiast, you'll want to take the time to find the tire that's perfect for your offroad adventures. And there are plenty of options.

ALL-SEASON (All-Purpose) TIRES. These tires are adequate for driving in all four seasons. Most carry an M/S designation (Mud/Snow) but are really meant only for light snow. They don't have the proper rubber compound for cold weather, nor the open tread block pattern for the traction provided by a snow tire.

ALL-TERRAIN TIRES. These tires are a compromise for those who use their truck for general daily driving with only occasional off-road use. Surprisingly, they are designed with added grip for "all terrain", dirt, sand, wet surfaces, light snow and light mud. But they are also good for general highway use and are relatively quiet on pavement. If you're going to be driving in heavy snow or thick mud, however, you need to move on to a tire designed with that purpose in mind.

SNOW TIRES. If you drive in light snow sporadically, you don't necessarily need snow tires--all-season tires should do the trick. But if you live in a severe-weather climate (or do a lot of driving in heavy snow), snow tires are for you. Snow tires have an open tread block pattern for better traction and should be narrower. More importantly, they are manufactured with a rubber compound that is more flexible in cold weather. The colder the climate, the less suitable your all-season tire becomes.

STUDDED SNOW TIRES. These are for icy winter conditions. They are "studded" (have metal posts embedded in them), allowing for up to 40% better traction in hard-packed snow and ice than an all-season tire. The downside, however, is the increased noise level as well as the fact that traction is decreased on dry and wet surfaces. Beyond that, due to the fact that they tend to "chew up" the pavement, many regions have either banned them all together or restricted their use to certain months of the year.

WINTER TIRES. Winter tires provide better traction in snowy and icy conditions. Their tread patterns and tread compounds are specifically designed for winter conditions. These tires perform better not only in snow, but also in slush and rain. And they're generally quieter than the snow tire. Look for the snowflake/mountain symbol which means they are certified to have met specific snow traction requirements.

MUD TIRES. If you're mudbogging, you need wide tires with large lugs. The lugs should have deep voids in between to expel the mud, allowing for better traction at each rotation. These tires, however, are generally loud on the highway, although you may find some exceptions. Mud tires are also good for rock climbing, sand and unpacked snow but do not perform well in icy conditions or in rain.

Two additional points to keep in mind ... don't try to cut corners by changing out only two tires. All four tires, whether they are snow tires or mud tires, should be the same. Two just won't do. And while the above list does not include any particular brand recommendations, the quickest, most reliable way to choose a good tire brand is to talk to other offroad entusiasts and find out what they're using in your area.

So there you have it. Tires are the most important truck accessory. Always make sure you have the right tires for the right job and you'll never have to embarrass yourself by calling a friend to come tow you out of an ugly mess.

Soccer Practice Plans For Volunteer Coaches

Coaching a soccer team is rough for the first time coach. While some may have previously played soccer or even Assistant Coached in the past, being the Head Coach brings a whole new level or responsibility.

As the leader of the team, you will be responsible for making the final decision in practices and in games. This position also requires you to plan out a practice schedule that will help your team evolve into better soccer players, both individually and as part of a team.

All these roles come with the added pressure of expectations from players and their parents, that is enough to make even the toughest individual, crack. For this purpose, I have put together a book with soccer practice plans that will make each of your jobs as a coach much more manageable. If you are short on the resources to plan effective soccer practices, i.e. time or knowledge, my book will help you immensely and possibly take your team all the way to the top.

The soccer drill book comes with 20 Differentpre-planned soccer practices that cover each and every topic, skill and situation that you will come across during the season. If you follow my soccer practice plans, your players will learn and enjoy the game, their parents will be happy and you will have succeeded in virtually all of your responsibilities as a head coach.

Youth soccer is more competitive then ever before and if you dont have a plan for soccer practice, your players will pay the price.

If you are a volunteer soccer coach, you owe it to your players to challenge and inspire their play. Soccer Season Outsourced, written by Scott Carlson, will help you transform your team from a bunch of individuals into the powerhouse of your league.

11 Common Reasons For Team-Building

In 24 years of team building with groups I have interviewed many executives as they contemplate the decision to hold some type of team development program. From shorter, lighter, fun programs to in-depth interventions for really stuck teams the goals for team building vary widely or can often be inadequately defined.

Most clients are not team building experts and so speak of the symptoms of bad teamwork; lack of communication, lack of trust, redundancy of effort, or lack of progress where it is needed most because this or that work group is not getting along. It is often a very helpful process for them to have the consultant help define specifically what the issues really are and what desired alternatives for teamwork might be possible. I often help my clients figure out what is really going on with the team and what it is that they really want rather than the way they are treating one another today.

The following are some of the most common reasons organizations cite for participating in a team-building program:

1) Have Fun

For whatever reasons some group just wants to have fun. Although almost any team experience can also be used as a valuable teamwork learning opportunity, sometimes fun is the objective. Organizations may already have detailed training and development programs in place and want a break from it all or just want to have a good party, nothing more. Sometimes this is influenced by the culture of the organization and weak or immature leadership. Without passing judgment here, it is worth mentioning that a high energy shared experience has many positive benefits such as : seeing one another in a different light than at work, creating a relaxed atmosphere where people might be more comfortable talking to someone at a different level in the organization, or bonding with one another because of some kind of shared activity like a softball game. If expectations for building teamwork are low and outcomes are not defined some longer term benefits will undoubtedly occur, but not necessarily the highest priority benefits that a work group might need.

2) Get everyone together, have a shared experience

Often planned by the well meaning, shared experiences hopefully take into account the comfort and participation level of each person. Rock climbing, for example, might be an intense trust building exercise for some, where it is an embarrassing reminder of ones lack of physical condition for another. The motivation here is one of defining the group culture and anchoring a sense of identity by doing something together. Typically, this might involve participating in entertainment together, corporate Olympics or company picnic type events, going on a dinner cruise together etc.. Any activity where everyone is together in the same place doing more or less the same thing can help anchor the idea of the unit or the group. This is not a very sophisticated objective but many companies are reticent to search for deeper meaning or learning because they fear the cultural push-back of not doing something cool enough to keep each clique and faction happy. There is of course, no limit to spending money on extravagant events but many of these provide little in the way of long term intrinsic benefit to the team when everyone returns to the same way of working together the next week. These types of events are almost like bribes to keep the worker happy, rather than opportunities to learn and become better as a team.

3) Celebrate Recent Achievements

Although similar to number 2 above, this type of team event actually has more structure and content and serves a very useful purpose for the team. Key points include:

-Acknowledging that everyone has been working hard, validating the rationale for asking a lot from workers on a regular basis.

-Acknowledge that the plan has worked and the goals have been reached. This inspires belief in leadership and engenders support and belief that future initiatives will also be successful.

-Gives credit and recognition to those who deserve it. Most employees crave acknowledgment for the contributions they make and relish being treated as a valuable contributor to the group.

-Builds a sense of identity as a team member of a strong, capable and successful team.

4) Presented or Perceived as a Workplace/Company Benefit

Once again, a perk for working in a particular company might be a luxurious travel trip or junket that could be called team building, when in reality it is a personal benefit many employees look forward to because of the great meals, resort hotel and far away location. Some work cultures routinely provide these types of benefits but few have real beneficial teambuilding structure. More often they are filled with additional sales or technical training or are used to unveil next years goals- ever more aggressive and demanding than the last, which are supposed to go down with the spoonful of sugar that the luxurious junket serves to provide. Re-calculating next years sales or production goals with team building doesnt always mix.

5) Interact with Senior Management, Key Customers or Vendors

Sometimes team building is a good way to force interaction with the objective of solidifying relationships. This might seem a little ingenuous at first, but well structured team building programs are actually a great way to deepen business relationships, which must first be acceptable personal relationships. A shared experience such as a ropes course or team initiative exercises can open up and stimulate all kinds of interactions and discussion that bring people closer together. Deepening communication and collaboration, learning about one anothers leadership and decision making styles, and exploring strategic approaches to quality and improvement in fun ways together can make for stronger teamwork throughout the value chain.

6) Build Communication Within the Team

Every group can do better with their communication with one another. It is the most common objective for team building and is nearly always at the heart of what coworkers want to do better when they get back to work. Modeling group communication skills should be woven into all great team building programs.

7) Cooperation/Collaboration between two groups

This is a very common rationale for team building programs and should be used more often, particularly where two work groups or departments form vital parts of the value chain such as sales and production, or engineering and marketing. Each group needs to better understand the demands and capabilities of the other and to work towards a realistic set of expectations that creates both efficiency and a way of operating that everyone can live with- especially the customer. Sometimes a lot of healing and conflict resolution will need to take place with a healthy dose of getting everyone enrolled in better possibilities for getting things done in the future.

8) Merger or Acquisition

When the dynamics and infrastructure of an organization changes everyone wonders how it will affect them. Once they get past the question of whether or not they will still have a job, the next logical questions cluster around what will be each employees roles and responsibilities, and how will things be different on a day to day basis? Workers need assurances. Will the status quo be maintained or will there be sweeping policy and procedure changes? How will changes be introduced? Calling this team building is really a stretch, but often the need is to get everyone together and communicate a new approach or philosophy and hopefully, integrate operations and new requirements quickly for no loss in production. It is a classic organizational challenge, but one that can be made smoother with a well designed team building program. After all, the new must integrate with the old with the result of a better and more capable result.

These team-building programs must be designed carefully.

9) New Management/Leadership

Many military groups are cursed by a changing command every two years or so. Each new commander strives to make his/her mark and make a unique difference that has never been seen before. These commanders know that they need to establish a new pace and climate quickly, coalesce the high influencers and important departments into an even more effective machine and direct the machine towards the achievement of ever more ambitious goals. Every one involved dreads the integration of a new commander and does their best to remain under the radar so as not to get noticed or focused upon as an opportunity for improvement or change. The private sector lacks the role specificity and rigidity of structure characteristic of the military but makes up for it in political intrigue and the introduction of complexity and lack of humanness.

Integrating new leadership and a new approach is a great reason to undertake a team-building program. For success the key is to focus on what works already, the voice of the worker, readiness for change, and consensus on areas that need improvement, rather than some disconnected and ambitious management by objectives approach by an executive who hasnt been there and done that. A humble new manager that listens rather than tells, that strives to understand rather than redefines, who use subtlety rather than dictate to institute a new rhythm will use a team building program for one of its highest potential benefits.

10) Pull together for a new strategy and new direction

When this motivation is genuine it can be very powerful. Hopefully top management knows where they are going before asking everyone to jump on the new bandwagon with them. They need to have definitive plans and be unequivocal about their commitment. In this case the message to employees and workers is one of engendering the motivation to support the leadership who knows how to work their way out of the current situation or crisis. These type of team building initiatives will fall on deaf ears if they are not well thought out and well executed. The core of the message sent to employees in this situation is that we will pull together to weather this crisis and we will support each other and work together to get it done. Employees quickly see through disingenuous lip service and lack of commitment from key executives who dont put their money where their mouth is and lead with their own example.

11) The dysfunctional group

Dysfunctional groups are made up of dysfunctional individuals, thus requiring a series of individual behavioral changes that will need to take place for the group to change its modus operandi. This is truly an artful process involving very sophisticated approaches to get the group to want to commit to a new approach, to see something in t for them individually and collectively to operate differently together, and to let go of ego-based defenses and negative behaviors that disrupt the smooth functioning of the work group.

Usually, the dysfunctional nature of this work group is costing the company a lot of money and frustrating everyone around them. And also, most in the organization are scared to confront the obvious, challenge unproductive behaviors and demand these individuals to elevate themselves to a higher standard for the well being of all concerned.

Because of who they are in the organizational hierarchy, the issues are treated like political hot potatoes or spoken about in hushed tones or overly sensitive terms, rather than being labeled as the immature, unprofessional inefficient and ridiculous behaviors that they are. Everyone agrees that there is a better way of operating out there if they would only open themselves up to the possibility. Herein lies the rub. Facilitating commitment to move beyond the current state to a better future state is the entire purpose of the team building experience, and it takes very skilled and professional handling. Like a delicate baby chick emerging from its shell, the possibility of a more satisfying way of operating needs to be handled gently. New ideas need to be carefully introduced and subscribed to with very specific expectations on everyones part as to how they will happen. Overcoming a history of lack of trust and moving into a more collaborative, open and honest future together means that this decision and agreement must be seen to be made by each group member. Herein lies the finest art of facilitated team building. Often a group like this will require continued support for some time so as to be reminded of their commitment and so as not to backslide into old behavioral patterns.

Corporate team building programs can have varied goals or combination of goals and require a flexible, customized approach. The goal is results; a better functioning, more satisfied and productive work team, whether on the front line or at the top executive level. People are people at whatever level of the organization, and often need the power and leverage of a well designed team building program to remind them that they can indeed work together, and even in fact, enjoy it.
